Required Question: When I was first given this project I didn't have an idea of what to do. I don't know why but I really struggled with the coming up with ideas for the "Look at that View" project. As we were coming up with ideas and writing them down i just wrote what came to my mind. For some reason i chose to write down 'cake', and that is what i ended up choosing for my final drawing I'm glad i did too, because it turned out to be one of my favorite drawings. I ended up using prisma color to draw it, at first i wasn't sure what medium to use because i had not worked with prisma colors at all until this class. But i knew that i had liked how they looked and how they blended out.We had practiced using prisma colors in class, and i liked working with them. Sketching it out was rough because i wasn't sure what perspective to use and how to position the cake to have it take up the most space. Also i had to look at many reference pictures to come up with what decorations i was going to use on the cake. That was a struggle too, because i didn't know if there were too many decorations, or too little. I think the idea for this project is original, i don't think many people would think to draw a cake. I drew the cake using 2 point perspective which was challenging, i didn't know if it would look right and if in the end it would look like a cake. It was also very challenging getting the cake to be symmetrical on both sides. It took me a lot to get everything to be symmetrical. I think just the whole sketching and structural part of the drawing was challenging. As for the color it is white and blue. i really like the blue in the flowers. I used many different shades of blue and they took me a while to draw. I am happy with how they turned out though. The prisma colors were really nice because they were bright and blended easily. I think also challenged myself because of how many flowers i did, some were small some were big,and i gave them each details and different colors. If i could add something it would probably be a background, I think that would have made the drawing way better but I still think it is successful how it is.
Question #4:
This is Katelyn's drawing for the perspective project. I think it shows so much skill and patience from her. I know she showed me her reference picture and then the drawing and i couldn't tell which one was which. This work of hers is so realistic, its great. I know it took her a long time to finish it because of the details and all of the bricks, she has so much patience, because i don't know if i could do that. It would take me forever. I know it must have been super challenging got get all the bricks in perspective. She has every detail nicely executed. I also think this drawing shows how much she has learned this year and shows a lot of improvement. I like the composition she used, how she has the building coming from the bottom left corner of the paper. I also like how she filled up empty space by drawing some trees on the right side. I like how her background has different colors and how it has highlights in it. She also put so much detail to the white part of the building.

All of the mini lessons we did helped me equally, and i think they made me a better artists in general. If i had to pick i think all of the contours we did and the practice with value helped me a lot. I came in to this class not really knowing much about any of this and i really enjoyed practicing it more. At the beginning of class we worked on thee hand contours where we would close our eyes and just draw our hand the best we could. The first few tries were not good, but after a few more i started to actually see how this was helping me. Also the backpack drawing was also very helpful. It helped me look at something that was a lot bigger than i usually do. It helped me make sure i got the details. I think the value drawings with the charcoal were also very helpful. I learned more about value, how and where to use it. I think value makes such a big difference in someones work, so i am glad i learned more abut that. I learned to get more of a gradual transition in the different values to make it look more natural and realistic. All of the mini lessons we did helped me a lot.
