Self-Evaluation:
1. I created an interesting point of view by using 2 point perspective to draw a cake. I think it was successful, it looks pretty good. I think I could've probably been a little more creative, but I'm happy with my work.
2. It's important to understand perspective because it makes such a big difference in a drawing. I learned so much this unit and I think I became a better artist. If you use perspective correctly it will make the biggest difference in your drawing and make it look a lot more realistic. it really makes abig difference.
3. The colored pencil exercises were helpful because I had never used prisma color and it helped me get used to it. I found out which shades worked better on the black, brown, or grey papers. I found out that it's easier to blend colors and build them up. Also, there is a variety of colors which is nice.
4. I applied more pressure to the pencil when I wanted it to be darker applied, I also used different shades to create value. I added some white to the flowers to add highlight and added black to the center of the flower to give it depth. I outlined some of the flowers in white to make the pop out a little bit more.
5. I showed depth in the flowers, that was probably what I focused on the most this project. I didn't have a background since the cake took up most of the space, I thought it was best to just leave the cake by itself.
6. My overall experience with the prismas was good. At first I was unsure if I would like them since I had never used them, but i ended up really like them. It's easier to blend and build up colors with them. Also, there is a variety of shades so you can create value easily. Some of the obstacles were that they would blend easy so I had to be careful when using the white right next to the bright blue.
7. Looking back I am pretty happy with how my artwork turned out. I'm not really sure what else I would like to know since I already learned so much with the perspective and the prisma colors. I do feel like I was prepared for this project, there wasnt a time where I felt unprepared.
